NATURAL SKINCARE

 

I can barely remember a time that I wasn’t self conscious about my skin. Between breakouts, sensitivity, and all around unpredictability, I have always been on edge. My experience lead me to take a deep dive into the root causes of my issues, as well as inspired me to create products that would heal the damage already done. When I began to understand that flare ups on my skin were likely just the effects of an unbalanced digestive and nervous system, I was able to begin tackling the issues form the inside out. I began with tinctures geared towards supporting the health of my gut, liver, kidneys, and nervous systems. I then started drinking diuretic and gut supportive teas. I immediately began to feel a difference in the way my body was processing toxins, as well as a lessening in the stress I was feeling throughout my body. Next came the topical changes. I threw out all chemical based skincare products and traded them for gentler, more homeopathic recipes. I’ve finally landed on a skincare regime that works for me and I bet it can help you too!

STEP 1: Focus on balancing the health of your gut and nervous system. This can come in the form of drinking supportive herbal teas, taking herbal tinctures, or even just changes in your diet and exercise routine.

STEP 2: Throw out those chemical based products. I know it’s tempting to reach for the most “powerful” or “instant” results when it comes to skincare. Unfortunately that won’t make true changes in the long term. Herbal medicine very often relies on a method of prevention, rather than reaction. Getting to the root of the issue and supporting your body to heal.

STEP 3: Find the right mix of natural products. This might take some time! Everyones skin is different, so you may just find one special cleanser that truly works for you, or you may, like me, need a mix of a few different products.


MY SKINCARE ROUTINE

CLEANSE - I GO BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN THE WILDE GATHERINGS KUMARI OIL CLEANSER + DELICATE CLEANSER. THE OIL BASED CLEANSER HELPS KEEP MY SKIN DEWY AND RESILIENT, WHILE THE DELICATE CLEANSER HELPS WHEN I AM IN NEED OF A DEEPER, MORE TEXTURAL CLEAN

SPRITZ - BEFORE MOISTURIZING, I LIKE TO SPRAY THE WILDE GATHERING CALM AROMAMIST ON MY FACE AND NECK. WAKES ME UP, CALMS ME DOWN, AND ADDS A LIGHT MOISTURE AND SUPPORT TO THE CLEANSED SKIN

MOISTURIZE/SPOT TREAT - AFTER A GOOD CLEANSE, I DAB THE TL SKIN SERENE OIL ON MY ENTIRE FACE, FOCUSING ON ANY AREAS THAT MIGHT BE ACTING OUT (A SENSITIVE SPOT OR A THE DREADED PIMPLE!) IF I HAVE ANY DIFFICULT SPOTS THAT NEED DEEPER HEALING, I ALSO DAB THE TL MEND OR NEW DAWN SALVES DIRECTLY ON THE WOUND. I OFTEN FINISH WITH A NON-SCENTED, GENTLE MOISTRUIZER SUCH AS CETAPHIL (YOU CAN FIND THIS AT ANY PHARMACY.)

DEEPER TREATMENT - WHEN IN NEED OF SOME DEEP SUPPORT, I REACH FOR THE TL CLAY MASK. I HAVE BEEN DOING FACE MASKS SINCE MY TEENS AND I STILL LOVE THEM :-) THIS MASK IS CLAY AND HERB BASED, SO ITS NATURAL AND CHEMICAL FREE, SUPPORTING YOUR SKIN WITHOUT PEELING OR BURNING IT. THE NICE THING ABOUT THIS MASK IS THAT THE CLAY DRIES QUICKLY, SO NO NEED TO SET ASIDE A WHOLE AFTERNOON FOR SKINCARE.

DIET FOLLOW UP - HERBAL TEA CAN BE AN EASY WAY TO SUPPORT THE SYSTEMS IN YOUR BODY THAT DEAL WITH TOXINS AND STRESS. THE TL BALANCE, EASE, + SKIN SERENE TEAS WERE FORMULATED WITH THIS IN MIND. BOTH DIGESTIVE AND EMOTIONAL STRESS ARE OFTEN HUGE FACTORS IN SKIN HEALTH AND CAN SOMETIMES BE HARD TO NAIL DOWN.
